At RAAYA by Atmosphere, sustainability is embedded into daily operations through practical systems that reduce waste, strengthen local sourcing, and enhance guest experience. Seb’s Farm serves as a central pillar of this approach, an on-island agricultural initiative designed to support responsible consumption and production.
Located on a dedicated half-acre plot, Seb’s Farm reflects the island’s story while operating as a modern, circular food system.
Under the guidance of the Landscaping Manager and Supervisor, the farm team operates a structured composting programme that converts organic kitchen waste and green waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Instead of contributing to marine pollution or landfill pressure, food scraps and biodegradable materials are processed on-site and reintegrated into the soil.
This circular approach reduces waste output from the resort, improves soil quality and crop resilience, and lowers dependency on externally sourced fertilisers
Seb’s Farm cultivates over 50 varieties of vegetables and herbs, including sweetcorn, baby corn, tomatoes, eggplant, beetroot, basil, moringa, and leafy greens. Crop rotation practices are implemented to preserve soil health and optimise yield.
Produce harvested in the morning is delivered directly to the culinary team within hours, eliminating transport emissions and reducing cold-chain dependency.
Seb’s Farm operates through coordinated efforts across multiple departments. The engineering department designs irrigation and composting systems while the landscapers manage soil health and crop cycles. Compost operations are generated by housekeeping and the culinary team develops seasonal menus based on farm yield while the front office facilitates guest engagement experiences.
This integrated model ensures sustainability is not siloed but embedded across resort functions.
Guests are invited to participate in guided harvest experiences, selecting produce directly from the farm. These ingredients are later featured in curated dining events held on-site, powered by solar lighting systems.
To date, over 450 guests have participated in these farm-to-table experiences, reinforcing awareness of sustainable food systems and encouraging responsible consumption habits.
The sustainability philosophy extends to serviceware and presentation. Select cutlery and crockery are crafted by local artisans using bamboo and coconut shell materials, reducing reliance on single-use plastics and supporting community craftsmanship.
Seb’s Farm demonstrates how small-island resorts can meaningfully reduce food miles, close organic waste loops, and integrate sustainability into guest experience without compromising quality.
At RAAYA by Atmosphere, sustainability is operational, measurable, and collaborative — from soil management to culinary innovation.
